Fast Electrics

Postby White Star » Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:10 pm

Hi Everyone
I am interested in buying a Fast Electric Boat (new or second hand) or possibly building one if I can get plans.Never having done any Radio Control boating it would need to be an intro class boat to start with.I have built a couple of boats but not Radio in them - Suzie Q and a couple of others.I am in the process of building the Billings White Star to play around in a small pond up the road. :) I have spent the last 8 years racing Slotcars both Curcuit and Drag Racing but need a change. What I need is some information on how and where to start?Costs? Also what it costs to join the club and any other information anyone can give me. :) I like the look of deep vee boats best but am open to other ideas. If someone can help me I would be gratefull.Thanks.

Hi Ray welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you could be a starter for our new N2 Class.

Look forward to meeting you. Check out the Gallery for pics of some of the boats over the years

Cheers

Matt

Hi Ray,

N2 Hydro is the new class to replace our old entry hydro class which was LSH. Due to the increased power and reduced weight, N2 is significantly faster than the old LSH class and speeds around the 80kmh + can be reached. N2 is a restricted class where you can run 2s lipo, and a "s" sized 540 Fiegao or sim motor. The boats are around 26 inches in length. Currently there are a few N2 hydros in the build, and eventually the N2 Offshore

IMO N2 would be a good class to get started in as its about the cheapest to setup and will give you a good introduction to Racing and lets face it Racing's where its at!!!!

on the 17th of this month the Speedclub is having speedruns at lake hakanoa in huntly, you should come along for a watch
